Economy - Over the past several years, polling shows a substantial majority of Americans believe the direction of the country is on the “wrong track.” This belief is understandable. After coming out of a financial crisis and deep recession, growth has been unusually weak—around 2%, compared to historic growth of 4% or more.

Although the media reports impressive unemployment rates, we have the lowest labor participation since Jimmy Carter was president. Two particularly hard-hit groups are recent college graduates, who can’t find suitable jobs, and seasoned, skilled employees laid off during the recession who are unable to gain reemployment in their fields. Although we have been in “economic recovery” for over six years, household incomes have continued to stagnate and are lower than they were two decades ago.

National Security - Americans are concerned about how secure we are—from terrorism, but also from self-radicalized attackers inspired by the likes of ISIS and Al Qaeda. In addition to the grave threats emanating from an unstable Middle East, we are concerned when we see the increasing belligerence of historic rivals such as Russia and China. We see our soldiers in Afghanistan unable to take action against a resurgent Taliban due to rules of engagement, and our sailors humiliated before Iran, and we wonder “why?”—when we have the most powerful military on earth.

What’s apparent is the status quo is not working.  We need new representation in Congress, and Todd Bloom has the common sense values and leadership experience we need now!
