Excerpt from Todd Bloom: “We’ve seen this time and again where the court goes out of its way to find a way to uphold things that have been enacted or are favored by one political party, and find a way to shut down or to repudiate the other position,” Bloom said. “And it gives us kind of a two-tier justice appearance, certainly, maybe, to a lot of folks.”
Bloom said he was “sympathetic” to the dissent written by Justice Sal Mungia, which would have upheld much of the initiative as constitutional, but said he would “reserve judgment” on the case because single-subject challenges may come before the court again.
“I certainly think that, you know, we need to find a way to respect the will of the voters, at least in a greater degree than we’re seeing today,” Bloom said.
